SBK GARAGE SESSIONS: Titanic Trio edition - three legends look back on an era of rivalry and respect
The ‘Titanic Trio’ gathered to reflect on their time in WorldSBK together, from title fights and rivalries to some of their most dramatic moments
The Pirelli Spanish Round will mark the end of an era in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) will retire from full-time competition and Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) will head to a new adventure in MotoGP. That leaves just Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) from the ‘Titanic Trio’ on the grid in 2026 and, to mark the end of one of the most fascinating eras in WorldSBK history, all three gathered to look back on that period in this special, and free, video podcast.
The feature-length video podcast is hosted by WorldSBK commentator Alex Raby, with various topics up for discussion. It begins with a general chat about the riders and their journeys, before swiftly moving on to Rea’s retirement news. Then, Championship battles: Rea vs Bautista in 2019, Razgatlioglu vs Rea in 2021 and Bautista vs Razgatlioglu in 2023; three seasons that will live long in the memory for WorldSBK fans, now with some extra, unique, insight.
Attention then turns to incredible fights between two, or three, of the ‘Titanic Trio’. Key moments in Championship battles, clashes, last lap scraps and much more are up for debate, with all three able to look back fondly on just some of the epic duels they have had. It’s a much-watch video with the trio clearly not only having a lot of respect for each other but getting on well despite how tense could get on track, and how ferocious the battles could get.
